Will update as life goes on! Updated: 7/13/19
I’ve always romanticized the idea of travel. I envision a lengthy road trip that hits through all the states, experiencing all that America has to offer. Each state has such wonderful sights to see and adventures waiting. With that being said, I worry about all the things that can go wrong with traveling and so I seldom leave my own town. It’s much easier to just stay home, where I am familiar and comfortable.
I want to put a stop to that thinking.
This last weekend, I took a small trip to see a friend and I was determined to drive the whole 4-hour trip there. I made it just over three hours before I gleefully let my husband take the wheel. Sure, I was a nervous wreck. I spent three hours needlessly white-knuckling the steering wheel while all the thoughts of what could go wrong were racing through my mind. Even though I did not make it the whole way, this was still a small victory for me. I drove three hours in a direction I had never been! I look forward to expanding my horizons (quite literally) with this new found confidence in myself and the support of my husband. Let’s start exploring!
Here is a map of the states that I’ve been in so far. Please note that I’m only counting states that I have spent time in. Passing through does not count!
The states that are colored in are states that I have visited at least one city in. If it’s gray – I’ve never been! Notice NC is where I live so I’ve placed a marker in that general area.
Here is the checklist – Sorry, I just love lists!
FloridaI grew up in Florida and lived there for many years! We regularly visit family in my hometown. I traded oceans for mountains and I miss the beach so much! We also like to visit Lowery Park Zoo – a zoo I went to as a child. It’s beautiful and so much fun! GeorgiaWe would often pass through Georgia but we never stopped. About a year ago, we went to the Aquarium in Atlanta as a day trip. So glad we did! We had a blast! Please go if you have the opportunity!
- New Hampshire
- New Jersey
- New Mexico
- New York
North CarolinaWe currently live in NC. Lately, we have tried visiting neighboring cities and towns and experience more of what our state has to offer us! We’ve been to Cherokee, Dillsboro, Bryson City, Waynesville, Asheville, Franklin, Sylva, Hickory, Charlotte and we recently visited the state capitol!
- North Dakota
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
TennesseeWe are just a couple hours from Tenessee’s border but we’ve only stopped there a handful of times. My loving husband took me on a birthday trip there this month to Gatlinburg but we’ve also been to Pigeon Forge. /
- West Virginia
I will update our list and map with each state we adventure through! Let me know which cities we should visit next!
Until our next adventure!
